'Reading is an Essential Skill' day was celebrated on September 21, 2012 by distributing books to families. Thank you Frontier College for donating books to First Nation families and INDIGO Love of Reading Foundation for adopting Ermineskin Elementary School. Thank you ABC Life Literacy Foundation for following up regarding the event. Thank you Office of Literacy and Essential Skills for providing posters, passports and publicity material which helped in creating an awareness about essential skills.

Playing board games demonstrates the essential skill of working along with others. Word, memory and educational board games helps cement social and friendship skills for our students. The bonus is vocabulary development. Working together and thinking are essential skills.
